Our Signature Story
Love for Luxury Outdoor Lighting
Pinnacle Signature Lighting was born from a rare vision: that light could transcend function to become art. What began as a childhood fascination on a small Ohio farm evolved into a lifelong pursuit of mastery, combining the precision of science with the soul of design.
For more than two decades, our outdoor lighting design company has illuminated the nation’s most distinguished properties, transforming landscapes and architecture into living works of art. With over 15,000 projects across 32 states, we’ve earned a reputation for creating rare, cinematic compositions of light – expressive, evocative and enduring.

The Pinnacle Process
Lighting that should be seen and felt
Exceptional design begins with intentional collaboration. We craft experiences that are not only beautifully lit but deeply personal.
Listening
Through a deep understanding of what you want to feel, see and share, our outdoor lighting design experts craft lighting that reflects your vision with elegance and intention.
Communicating
We refine what we hear with care. Open dialogue and thoughtful exchange allow us to shape ideas together, ensuring every detail reflects your vision.
Collaborating
With empathy and precision, we work as one, creating lighting experiences that are as nuanced and exclusive as the spaces they illuminate.
Meet The Team
Exceptional Projects Begin with Exceptional Partnerships

Jim Burks’ passion for lighting began at the age of 10, on his family farm in Fort Seneca, Ohio, in 1965.
A single 60-watt bulb lit the barn – barely enough for summer hayloft games and fall basketball. Solving that challenge sparked a lifelong curiosity.
As the farm evolved, so did his experiments—brighter lamps on harvesters, salvaged fixtures from a nearby college and early lessons in electrical systems.
After decades in the produce business, a small outdoor project in Georgia reignited that spark. Jim and his wife Tricia saw the potential and Pinnacle Signature Lighting was born.
Today that same curiosity continues to guide everything they illuminate.
What I do at Pinnacle Lighting:
As the President and Founder, I lead the creative and strategic vision of the company, oversee the lighting designs, project development and customer relationships. I combine technical expertise with artistic insights to deliver innovative lighting solutions that enhance areas and elevate the overall experience. By guiding the team, cultivating partnerships and setting the standard for quality and design excellence. I ensure each project reflects the company’s commitment to creativity, functionality and exceptional results.
What fuels my passion:
I’m driven by a passion for blending creativity and technology to design lighting solutions that are both impactful and timeless. Seeing a project transform from dark to light and connecting with our customers and Strategic Partners will always be my favorite parts of my job.
Personal touch:
I’m at my happiest when I’m spending time with my family – whether that is supporting my grandchildren at their events, being outdoors, traveling or simply finding projects to do around my home. These things ground me and bring me balance and clarity.
What I do at Pinnacle Lighting:
As the bridge between design and execution, I ensure every project is built to spec and exceeds client expectations. From translating each client’s vision into precise project plans to coordinating with the lighting team on installation, I make sure every detail shines. For me, the joy comes in delighting our clients with a perfectly executed project that transforms their space.
What fuels my passion:
Being on-site and watching a client’s face light up when the project comes alive. That’s the moment that makes all the planning worth it.
Personal touch:
When I’m not orchestrating projects, I love all things dogs, traveling, spending time with my kids and enjoying good food.
What I do at Pinnacle Lighting:
In my role as the Office Manager, I drive efficiency and organization behind the scenes, ensuring smooth operations and a productive well supported work environment.
What fuels my passion:
I’m fueled by bringing order to the chaos, supporting my team, and delivering exceptional customer service that makes every customer feel valued, heard and excited to work with us.
Personal touch:
In my personal life, I find the most joy and peace in spending quality time with my family, baking for the people I love and tending to my garden. These simple moments help me slow down, recharge and stay grounded, bringing a sense of balance and calm to my everyday life.
What I do at Pinnacle Lighting:
As the Service/Project Manager at Pinnacle I oversee lighting installations from start to finish. I work closely with customers and the Pinnacle crew to ensure projects are completed correctly, on time and with a strong focus on clear communication and customer satisfaction.
What fuels my passion:
I find passion in being the point of support throughout the service/installation process. I care deeply about creating a smooth, low-stress experience for our customers – listening closely, communicating clearly and stepping in quickly when a challenge arises. Knowing I can turn what seems to be a complex project into something that feels handled and done right is what drives me every day.
Personal touch:
Outside of work, I bring the same heart and curiosity into my everyday life. I love spending time with my friends and family, soaking up every moment with my dog and discovering new and fun places to eat whenever I am on the road. Those little joys keep me inspired and connected.
